American Robin (Turdus migratorius)

Central Park March 8, 2022 // Croton Point, May 11, 2023

First ebirded on March 17, 2012. The American Robin is the first bird I became aware of and knew by name as a child in the mid-1960's. It was the state bird of Michigan and a common visitor to our Detroit backyard. My grandmother told me all I needed to do to catch one was put salt on its tail. Thus, many afternoons were spent running around the yard with a salt shaker :-).

While commonly seen all over Westchester, I've also seen them in Michigan, Connecticut, Montana, Wyoming, Cananda, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Nebraska.
