Columbine (Agulegia sp)

May 13, 2023

This native plant was given to me by a SMRA board member. I planted it in the "bowling ball" commemorative garden. I think it is an Aqulegia canadensis variety of columbine. They are supposed to be easy to grow and part shade tolerant.

I also bought a couple of columbine plants from the Teatown plant sale in mid-May, 2023. Both were Aquilegia Clementine Salmon-rose. I put one in the expanded birch tree garden near the St. John's wort, and the other one in the "new" expanded garden next to the front gate.

Update: May 17, 2025 all columbine plants seem to be thriving and bloom early in the spring. Bought a new one at Teatown Aquilegia canadense, Eastern red columbine which can get 3' tall.
