These are cute birds. I spotted my first one at lake Duluti Lodge in Tanzania on our first day there, July 22, 2016. We were jet-lagged and just taking a quick walk in the hotel garden. We saw them a few more times in Tanzania, but seemed to only get a few fuzzy pictures. See the Tanzania Trip Log: Dawn on the Serengeti
This was again among the first birds I spotted on day one of my South Africa Birding & Wildlife Safari. Several flew into a tree at our hotel in Johannesburg on November 6, 2022, and I was pleased to recognize them.
I saw them a few more times during the South Africa trip.
