Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata )

White-tailed deer with Garlic Mustard, May 13, 2019

Garlic Mustard is an invasive species that pops up in the backyard and along the OCA every spring. It needs to be pulled out with the roots and disposed of on a regular basis, and maybe one day we will eradicate it.

The plant is edible and my neighbor, Diane, makes a garlic mustard hummous dip.

The white-tailed deer is another invasive species that lives in the area. Our fence usually keeps them out of the main part of the yard, but this one is happily browsing on the hillside below the house.
