We've also seen them in Indiana, Ohio, Colorado, and in Nebraska where they are much more common. Here's one in Colorado seen during our eclipse trip
I saw a family of red-headed woodpeckers during my Indiana Salmon and the Midwest Crusade trip in July, 2023. The juveniles did not yet have red heads.
